Double Pleated Fold

I absolutely love when one of the attendees at my classes  makes a card after leaving the class and sharing it with me.

We made this one at a class over the weekend using the retiring Birthday Bouquet DSP (I will miss it!), Petite Petals and Birthday Blooms stamp set featuring the double pleat fold.

Double Curtain Fold
Here is the card that Carole made after the class and shared with me.  She used the Botanical Gardens DSP that is retiring today!  The sentiment is from Birthday Blooms.

Love & Affection and Layering Squares Framelits

In just two more days the new catalogue will be launched and these fabulous new items will be available to order.

The Layering Squares Framelits have 19 square framelits – 10 scallop squares and 9 square edges which all nest to form great combinations of layering.  The largest scallop square measures 3″ x 3″ and the smallest is 3/4″ x 3/4″.  The largest square edge measures 2 7/8″ x 2 7/8″ to 1″ x 1″.

There is also a great combination of new textured impressions embossing folders called Floral Affection (you get two folders) that pairs well with the Love & Affection stamp set.

In today’s card I married the outgoing Blackberry Bliss In Color card stock, ink and ribbon with these three new products and I just love the crispness of the card.  There is a scallop framelit that would have provided a smaller frame for the first layer, but I used the one size larger to give it more definition.

Love and AffectionfvThe countdown is on for only for the launch of the new catalogue but also the last day to purchase your Wish List items from the current catalogue.  After midnight tomorrow, they will no longer be available so don’t hesitate and be sure to pick up your favourites before they go.

Swirly Scribbles

Playing with some of the new goodies coming out in the Annual Catalogue on June 1 and had fun with this new thinlit, Swirly Scribbles.  I’ve also incorporated two other new products, Melon Mambo Thick Baker’s Twine and the Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper.

Swirly Scribbles MelonI started with a piece of Basic Black card stock cut 4 1/2″ x 11″ and scored at 5 1/2″.  The Melon Mambo later is cut 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″ with the DSP cut at 5″ x 3 3/4″.   There are three sizes of swirls in the set and those are cut out in Melon Mambo and Basic Black.  I added the Baker’s Twine in the middle of the layers and added the swirls on top with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

The sentiment is from Circle of Spring stamped on Whisper White and punched out with the 7/8″ Scallop punch (retiring!) and layered onto a Black 1″ Circle punched piece and adhered to the card with a dimensional.

Botanical Blooms

As all my previous posts for this beautiful bundle have been lost, I’m fortunate that I still have my photos and for today’s post, I wanted to share with you some of my favourites using this bundle.  There is a 15% savings for this bundle in the Occasions Catalogue that ends on May 31.  It’s a unique grouping as it has the Botanical Blooms Stamp Set AND Botanical Gardens Designer Series Paper AND Botanical Builder Framelits Dies for $64.25.  Purchased individually the cost would be $75.75, so it’s a super deal to get it before it goes at the end of the month.

Here are some of the cards.

Flower Patch

The Flower Patch stamp set is absolutely gorgeous with the great selection of flower and leaf images and the exquisite sentiments.  Today’s card uses two of the sentiments with the beautiful retiring English Garden DSP.

Flower Patch English GardenThe card base is the retiring In Color Mossy Meadow  (love it!) cut 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″.  The Whisper White layer is 5 1/4″ x 4″.  The DSP is cut 3 3/4″ x 4 1/8″ and cut on a diagonal.  I layered them onto the Whisper White mat leaving room in the middle to stamp the sentiment in Mossy Meadow Classic Ink.  I added two Blushing Bride candy dots from the Subtles Candy Dots (retiring) around the sentiment and completed it with a butterfly cut from the Bold Butterfly framelits in Blushing Bride card stock.  It is adhered to the card with a glue cot and finished with a pearl.

On the inside of the card I stamped the second sentiment from Flower Patch in Mossy Meadow and two flower images from the set in Blushing Bride.

April Paper Pumpkin – Bonus Stamp Set

I just subscribed to Paper Pumpkin last month and was thrilled to receive the cute box it comes in and with the sweet little wreath kit (which, blush, blush, I haven’t put together yet!) plus the adorable “bonus” stamp set, All about Everything.

This is the card I made with the set and I chose Real Red to be the card base and color of the flowers.  I find that I use pinks for most flower cards and wanted a change from that.

All about EverythingThe images were stamped on a piece of Whisper White cut 5″ x 3 3/4″.  I used Real Red for the flowers and the centres are stamped with Daffodil Delight.  The leaves were stamped with Wild Wasabi and the background “splotch” was inked up with Watermelon Wonder and stamped off.  The sentiment, also from the stamp set, was stamped with Black Archival Ink.

The focal layer is adhered to a piece of 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″ Basic Black and then adhered to the Real Red card base cut 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″.

On the inside of the card, I repeated the red flowers, leaves and “splotches” and completed the sentiment.

All about Everythingin

Circle of Spring Wax Paper Resist

Another technique from the archives is wax paper resist.  I think the most fun we had while making this card was using my miniature iron and ironing board!

Wax Paper Resist Circle of Spring

Aren’t these the cutest?  I bought these years ago when I was first doing the wax paper resist technique as I didn’t want to haul out the big ironing board and iron.  I bought a couple of irons and several ironing boards in various colors, but over the years sold them at garage sales.

But getting back to the card, the card base is Watermelon Wonder with the front panel embossed with Decorative Dots embossing folder (retiring!).  With the wax paper resist technique you produce two sheets of card stock, one for the current project and you can save the other for another project.  For this card, we used Tip Top Taupe to add the color and then cut it out with the Circle Framelits (retiring!).  It was layered onto a Tea Lace Paper Doily (retiring!) and we added a Watermelon Wonder butterfly to it.  The sentiment is from Circle of Spring.

  • Stamp Sets:  Circle of Spring
  • Paper:  Watermelon Wonder, Whisper White
  • Ink:  Watermelon Wonder, Tip Top Taupe
  • Accessories:  Decorative Dots Embossing Folder, Circle Framelits, Sponges, Tea Lace Paper Doilies, Rhinestones, Butterflies Thinlits, 1″ Circle Punch, Dimensionals, Wax Paper, Iron

Cucumber Bokeh

I love how this card turned out using the Bokeh technique.  I seldom use the greens in our color palette and when it was finished, I was more than pleased with it.

Bokeh CucumberThe card base is Cucumber Crush with a mat of Whisper White.  Shimmery White was used for the technique piece and I found that when applying the White Craft ink circles it seemed to adhere to the paper much better than when I used Whisper White card stock.  The three shades of green used are Garden Green, Cucumber Crush and Pear Pizzazz.

The flower was punched using three punches: Fun Flower (retiring!), Pansy and Petite Petals using Whisper White card stock and adhered together with Glue Dots and then popped onto the front of the card with a dimensional.  A White Perfect Accent completed the flower and a length of 5/8″ Organza ribbon wrapped around the two top layers and bow completed the card.

  • Paper:  Cucumber Crush, Whisper White, Shimmery White
  • Ink:  Cucumber Crush, Garden Green, Pear Pizzazz, Craft Whie
  • Accessories:  5/8″ Organza Ribbon, Fun Flower Punch, Pansy Punch, Petite Petals Punch, White Perfect Accents, Sponge Dauber, Glue Dots, Dimensionals

Crazy About You Baby Wipe

Digging into my techniques book that we did about 10 years ago for a techniques class over the weekend and we brought back a couple of goodies.   Here’s one that we revisited – baby wipe technique.

Baby Wipe Crazy About YouWe used Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry to make our baby wipe stamp pad.  The card base is Tempting Turquoise with a Blushing Bride mat.  The image piece is Whisper White on which we stamped the flower image from Crazy About You.  The background splots are from Timeless Texture which added some fun texture to fill in the white spots.  The sentiment is from a retiring stamp set, And Many More and we also used  several other retiring products to make this card.

  • Paper:  Tempting Turquoise, Blushing Bride, Whisper White
