Graceful Garden Basket Weave – Polished Stone

At our stamping event, my friend, Janet, demonstrated two fantastic cards.  For the first one she showed us the basket weave technique and used the Graceful Garden stamp set and co-ordinating Petal Garden Designers Series Paper Stack.

With the return of the Glossy White card stock, Janet’s second card featured the polished stone technique.  The card base is Fresh Fig.  The reinkers she used to create the polished stone effect was Pink Pirouette and Fresh Fig with the gold metallic.   She finished the card with the dragonfly and a Swirly Scribbles thinlit.

Thanks so much Janet for two wonderful demonstrations!

We had a lot of mom and daughter attendees and here they are.

and Maxine, one of my team members.

Thanks for stopping by on this beautiful day before the long Canada Day weekend.  Happy stamping!

Dragonfly Dreams

So happy that Dragonfly Dreams is in the new Annual Catalogue.  Today’s card uses a watercolor technique shared by Cindee Wilkinson.

The card base is Tangerine Tango cut 4 1/4″ x 11″ and scored at 5 1/2″.   Cut the watercolor paper to 3″ x 4″.  Spritz the paper with water and then use a clear block to pick up the ink directly from the ink pad.  Apply the ink from the block onto the paper and repeat this using various colors.  For this card, I used Daffodil Delight, Rich Razzleberry and Tangerine Tango.

As the paper is wet, the ink will spread out when you apply it with the block.  Repeat as often as you want to get the coverage you are pleased with and spritz the paper again if you want to spread the ink around.   This will take a few minutes to dry or you can use your heat tool to speed up the drying process.

This watercolor piece is layered onto a piece of Rich Razzleberry cut 3 1/8″ x 4 1/8″.  Adhere it to the card front with dimensionals.  I rolled the dragonfly using the framelit on Rich Razzleberry card stock.  Trim down the edges of the dimensional sheet to attach to the spine of the dragonfly and adhere to the watercolored piece.  I washed the dragonfly with Wink of Stella which gives it a slight sheen.   Add some rhinestones and stamp the sentiment using Black Archival ink and your card is done!

Thanks for stopping by and have a stamping good day!

Another Swap Card

It’s amazing how when you set your mind to doing something, it gets done so quickly!  This is another swap card I made and this one is a Dutch Door card.

The main card stock is Island Indigo and the layering pieces are the Blooms and Bliss Designer Series Paper.  The square pieces are Mint Macaron and Island Indigo cut with the Layering Squares Framelits.  The sentiment is from Suite Sayings stamped with Island Indigo classic ink and cut out with the Layering Circle Framelits.   The butterfly is punched out with the Bitty Butterfly punch also using the Blooms and Bliss DSP and a small pearl completes it.

The sentiment on the inside is from Dragon Dreams.

Thanks for stopping by and happy stamping!

The new Occasions Catalogue and Sale-A-Bration is now in full operation!   Once a year we have Sale–A-Bration, the best stamping time of the year, where you can earn an exclusive product with a purchase (not including taxes and shipping) at no charge!

I believe that the Dragonfly Dreams bundle will the be one of the very popular bundles in the Occasions Catalogue – but then there are so many fantastic bundles!!!

I thought I’d go back into the archives and use an old technique that is very versatile.  It’s the shaving cream technique (and I still have the original can of shaving cream that I purchased many, many years ago!).

I cut some Whisper White card stock (5 1/4″ x 4″) and spread out a piece of wax paper.  I sprayed some shaving cream onto the wax paper and then add several drops of Rich Razzleberry, Daffodil Delight and Pink Piroutte reinkers onto the shaving cream and then used a wooden stir stix to run it through the shaving cream and swirled it around.

shaving-creamI placed the Whisper White card stock on top of the shaving cream and pressed it lightly to pick up the shaving cream.  Using a chop stick, I then scraped off the excess.  There was so much shaving cream I was able to do two (actually I could have done abut half a dozen).

shaving-cream-samplesI trimmed the bottom piece down to 5″ x 3 3/4″ and then put it together for this card.

dragonfly-dreams-shaving-creamThe card base is Rich Razzleberry with a layer of Pink Pirouette.  I cut the dragonflies using Rich Razzleberry using Rich Razzleberry card stock and adhered it to the front of the card.  The sentiment from the set is stamped using Rich Razzleberry classic ink.  I added some shimmer onto the dragonflies with the clear Wink of Stella brush.

I have cut out more dragonflies on the other piece and will use it for some other cards.
