Impressions Abloom Box Card

It’s been a long while since I’ve made a box card. The flowers in the Impressions Abloom bundle were just calling out for a box card and here’s today’s share.

So pretty with all the colourful flowers.

And here’s the back where you can write your sentiment.

It’s time consuming cutting out the pieces but well worth it after it’s put together. I used most of the co-ordinating colours found in the Floral Impressions Designer Series Paper that co-ordinates with this bundle. I used Strawberry Slush card stock for the box and co-ordinated it with layers of Pretty in Pink card stock and Basic White for the sentiment panel.

The flowers were die cut using all the flower dies in Lemon Lolly, Daffodil Delight, Strawberry Slush, Pretty in Pink and Fresh Freesia. Old Olive was used for the leaves. After die cutting the flowers I applied co-ordinating ink around the flowers for some shading with the Small Blendin’ Brushes. The centres on the larger flowers were die cut from Daffodil Delight and I stamped the centres for the smaller flowers using Pecan Pie ink.

The flowers and leaves were assembled inside the box with Window Sheets. The box folds up into an A2 side card and will easily fit into a Basic White envelope. On the Basic White panel for the sentiment, I stamped the smaller flower in Strawberry Slush, added a few tips of the leaves in Old Olive and stamped the centres in Daffodil Delight.

Cutting Instructions:

• Strawberry Slush:
  • Box: 5 1/2″ x 9″, score on the 9″ side at 2 1/8″, 4 1/4″, 6 3/8″ and 8 1/2″. On the 5 1/2″ side, score at 2 3/4″. On the 9″ side, cut score lines at 2 1/8″, 4 1/4″ and 6 3/8″ to 2 3/4″ horizontal score line. Cut off the 1/2″ section down to 2 3/4″ horizontal score line.
  • Strips for inside of box to adhere the flowers: 1″ x 3″ (cut 2) and score at 1/2″ on both ends
  • Sentiment: 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ for die cutting “hugs”
  • Flowers – small scrap pieces
• Pretty in Pink:
  • Panels for back of box and inside box: 2″ x 5 3/8″ (cut 2)
  • Mats for box sides and flaps: 2″ x 2 5/8″ (cut 9)
  • Flowers – small scrap pieces
• Daffodil Delight, Fresh Freesia, Lemon Lolly
  • Scrap pieces for flowers
• Old Olive:
  • Leaves: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ depending on the number of leaves you want to use in the box
• Designer Series Paper:
  • Pattern 1: 1 7/8″ x 2 1/2″ (cut 3)
  • Pattern 2: 1 7/8″ x 2 1/2″ (cut 6) and 1 7/8″ x 5 1/4″. Adhere this to one of the Pretty in Pink 2″ x 5 3/8″ panels
• Basic White:
  • Sentiment panel: 1 7/8″ x 5 1/4″
• Window Sheet: 3″ x 3″ to cut various lengths to attach to flowers and leaves

Assembling the box:

• Crease the score lines – DO NOT crease the score line next to the 1/2″ section. That is the back of the box and where you will adhere the 2″ x 5 3/8″ panels.
• Prepare all the flowers and leaves for the box (die cuts, sponging and stamping centres)
• Lay the box flat and assemble the card stock and dsp mats and adhere to the panels. I used both sides of the DSP – the floral pattern (Pattern 1 – 3 pieces) on the bottom of the box and tiny pattern (Pattern 2 – 6 pieces) on the top flaps of the box. Be sure that you have the DSP for the top flaps that fold out adhered in the proper direction. Adhere the sentiment panel (Pretty in Pink and Basic White) to the outside of the box and adhere the other panel (Pretty in Pink and DSP panel) on the other side (which will be on the inside of the box)
• Add a strip of Tear & Tape to the 1/2″ strip of the box. Form the box with the strip to the inside of the folds, remove the Tear & Tape liner and adhere
• Fold the 1/2″ tabs on both ends of the 1″ x 3″ Strawberry Slush tabs. Add adhesives to the tabs and position inside the box just below the top of the box and adhere.
• Cut strips of Window Sheets in various lengths and adhere to the backs of the flowers/leaves. Add adhesive to the near the bottom of the window sheet and adhere to the tabs in varying heights to form a bouquet
• Add die cut sentiment to front flap of box and embellish with Strawberry Slush & Pretty in Pink gems
