I looked up what is the most popular hibiscus flower color and red was the color although there are many other beautiful colors they come in. I used the Happy Hibiscus bundle in Online Exclusives to make this book binding card. The bundle has the Happy Hibiscus stamp, hybrid embossing folder and dies.
I used one of my favorite layouts (book binding: 4 1/4″ x 11″, score at 4 1/4″ and 5 1/2″. Add adhesive between the 4 1/4″ and 5 1/2″ score lines and adhere to form the book binding) for the card. The card base is Real Red with Basic White being the accent “color”. I stamped the flowers using Memento Black ink on Basic White and colored them using various colors of Stampin’ Blends: Real Red, Flirty Flamingo, and Daffodil Delight.
Next I placed the die for the flowers into the embossing folder, then lined up the stamped images and then rolled it through the die cutting machine. By using the hybrid embossing folder with the dies, the flowers are embossed.
I die cut a piece of Basic White 5″ x 4″ and embossed it with the hybrid embossing folder and trimmed off 1″ to use on the book binding section of the card and adhered the 4″ x 4″ piece on the front panel of the card.
I wrapped a length of Real Red Mini Ruffled Ribbon (retired) around the 1″ x 4″ Basic White and adhered it to the book binding portion of the card. I then cut 5″ of ribbon and tied a knot around the ribbon strip to create a faux bow.
I die cut the leaves using Old Olive card stock and the dies for the leaves are so gorgeous as they have so much detail on them. I stamped the sentiment on a piece of Basic White and used the round die cut from the set to cut it out. After assembling the flowers and adhering with Stampin’ Dimensionals, I added the leaves and sentiment. I added a few of red gems from the Wonderful Gems package (retired). I used Wink of Stella over the hisbiscus flowers although it may not be visible in the photo. IRL it just sparkles and finishes the card beautifully.
