Turtle Friends Swing Tent Card

I used the Turtle Friends stamp set for today’s swing tent card. Turtle Friends has some very cute images and one of the sentiments I particularly like is the “Happy Belated Birthday (sorry I was slow)” . Seems I occasionally need a belated birthday greeting.

I love the card as it is so sweet! I used Granny Apple Green for the card base, Whisper White for the front mat and on the inside is a panel of DSP from the You’re a Peach DSP.

The outline of the turtle is stamped on Whisper White with Memento Black ink. I stamped the shell Granny Apple Green ink and used the Light and Dark Granny Apple Green Blends for the body. I also used Light Smoky Slate Blend for its toes and then punched it out with the Turtle punch. I also punched out an extra turtle in Whisper White to adhere to the back of the focal turtle.

The shells on the two smaller turtles are also stamped with Granny Apple Green and colored with Old Olive Light Blends for their bodies. The little bird is stamped with Bumblebee ink and then fussy cut the with the Paper Snips.

I cut a scallop circle in the centre of the card front using the Layering Circles dies. Next I centred the Whisper White panel on the card front and traced the outline from the cut scallop circle, placed the scallop circle die over the pencilled outline and ran it through the Cut & Emboss machine. The Whisper White is then embossed with the Hammered Metal embossing folder and adhered to the front panel lining up the openings. For the Granny Apple Green scallop circle border I used the same size scallop circle used for the opening and a larger one and then rolled it through the Cut & Emboss machine.

Create a mechanism to attach to the inside centre of the card. Glue the mechanism to the centre with the feet on both sides of the centre fold. Punch a hole in the centre of the mechanism and one end of the Window Sheet strip and secure with a brad. The large turtle adhered to the other end of the Window Sheet strip. Adhere the Whisper White turtle to the back of the focal turtle to cover the acetate. Adhere one portion of the tent piece to the back panel of the card lining it up at the bottom. Then adhere the DSP to the back panel. Adhere the other end of the tent fold piece to the bottom of the front panel of the card.

I added the small turtles and bird to the front of the card. The sentiment stamped with Granny Apple Green is cut out with a Stitched Rectangle die and the Granny Apple Green mat is cut in the next size up.

Granny Apple Green: Card Base – 4 1/4″ x 11″, score at 5 1/2″, tent base – 4 1/4″ x 3″, score at 1/2″ , 1 1/2″, 2 1/2″, Mechanism to secure Window Sheet – 1/2″ x 2″, score at 1/4″, 1″, 1 3/4″, scraps for sentiment base and scallop circles
Whisper White: 4″ x 5 1/4″ (2 pieces, one for back of the card) scraps for sentiment, small turtles and bird
DSP: 4″ x 5 1/4″
Window Sheet: 1/2″. Cut the length to accommodate placing the focal image in centre of opening.
