Today’s card is a spanner card using the Blessing of Home stamp set. I chose Cinnamon Cider for the card base and I will miss this color when it retires as it is one of the 2020-2022 In Colors leaving at the end of the current Annual Catalogue.
I paired Cinnamon Cider with Pale Papaya along with the Heart & Home DSP.
A spanner card is very quick and easy to make. You start with a card base of 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″. Cut the panels on the side and decorate. I embossed the Pale Papaya centre piece with the Hive 3D embossing folder and added some Brushed Brass Butterflies and Gilded Gems to complete the card.
Cutting Instructions:
- Cinnamon Cider – 5 ½” x 8 ½”, Open up the card base and position the 5 ½” edge at the top of the Paper Trimmer and place left edge at 1 ¼” then cut from the top to the score line; move the card stock over to 4 ¼” and cut from the top to the score line
- Cinnamon Cider – 7/8” x 4 1/8 for sentiment
- Basic White – 4” x 5 ¼” inside panel
- Basic White – 2 ¼” x 4” for flower
- Copy Paper – 2 ¼” x 4” for flower
- Pale Papaya – 2 7/8” x 4 1/8” (Embossed piece)
- Pale Papaya – 1 1/8” x 4 1/8” cut 2 for top side panels; ¾” x 4” for sentiment
- Pale Papaya – 1 1/8” x 4” cut 2 for inside panels
- Heart & Home DSP – 1” x 4” cut 2 for top side panels
- Heart & Home DSP – 1” x 3 7/8” cut 2 for inside panels
- Window Sheet – 1” x 5 ¼”
I die cut the flower on a piece of copy paper to cover the back of the flower. When using the Blends, the color will come through the back and as part of it will show when you lift the spanner piece, the copy paper covers the ink that bleeds through.
