It’s been a while that I’ve made an “regular” easel card and decided to use the Friends are Like Seashells stamp set for today’s card. When I first saw an easel card waaay back when, I thought it would be so difficult to make. A new fold or layout or technique always looks so hard – until you make one and you find it is very easy to do.
The card base is Flirty Flamingo card stock. The easel portion is a piece of Flirty Flamingo card stock with a layer of Whisper White card stock that has been embossed with the Subtle embossing folder. For the focal image I used a piece of Flirty Flamingo card stock layered with a piece of the Sand and Sea Designer Series The DSP and the Subtle embossing folder will be retiring on May 3 and either of these are still on your Wish List, be sure to get them before then – just about a week left!
After cutting out the large die with the sea shells from the Pearlescent Specialty Paper, I stamped the shells with Polished Pink, So Saffron, Seaside Spray and Crumb Cake classic ink and colored the leaves with Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends and then embossed it with the Seashells 3D embossing folder.
I then cut out the seashells and arranged them for the focal image on a mat of Flirty Flamingo card stock and Sand and Sea DSP. I applied some with Stampin’ Dimensionals and adhered others with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
After stamping the sentiment with Black Memento Ink, a few Opal Rounds were added and then adhered to the front panel.
To form the easel, make a mountain fold at the 2 1/8″ score line of the card base. Add adhesive to the right side of the fold. Line up the bottom of the card front to the fold and press down to secure.
A piece of Whisper White is adhered to the inside of the card and the seashell is raised with Stampin’ Dimensionals top provide the stopper when the card is displayed as an easel.
Cutting dimensions:
- Flirty Flamingo: Card Base: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, score at 2 1/8″ and 4 1/4″, Easel layer: 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″, Focal Image: 4″ x 3 1/4″
- Whisper White: 2 – 5 1/8″ x 4 1/8″
- Sea and Sand DSP: 3 1/8″ x 3 7/8″
