I made today’s card with the Birthday Blooms stamp set using a watercolor background and as with my usual “light hand”, the colors are very soft. When applying the color, it may appear dark with the application but once it dries the colors soften up.
It appears that the new In Color that I’m going to quite frequently is Sweet Sugarplum. I’m happy that Stampin’ Up! has introduced this color that compliments Perfect Plum – well, perfectly!
The card base is Sweet Sugarplum 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″. I have some of the older watercolor paper which is thicker than the current watercolor paper but it is sized at 3 3/4″ x 5″ which makes a perfect mat. I spritzed water over the watercolor paper and then applied Sweet Sugarplum and Perfect Plum ink using an aqua painter and just smooshing it across the paper. It was fun just mooshing it around on the card stock. I left it to try on its own but you can certainly speed up the process by using the heat tool.
The floral image is stamped with Memento Black ink. It is layered onto a piece of Perfect Plum cut 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″. Next wrap a length of the Sweet Sugarplum ruched ribbon (love it!) and added a sentiment from Circle of Spring stamped with black ink and punched out with the 3/4″ Circle Punch and matted onto a piece of Sweet Sugarplum punched using the 1″ Circle Punch and then popped onto the card with a dimensional. A few rhinestones completed the card.
