These slide and lock gatefold cards are addicting and very easy to make and packs a “wow”. With the sunny weather lately, it seems fitting that a card featuring ice cream would be appropriate.
The card base is Bermuda Bay with co-ordinating Ice Cream Corner DSP from the January-June 2021 Mini Catalogue. Pool Party is one of the co-ordinating colors which is what I used for the focal image and locking piece.
Card measurements:
- Bermuda Bay: Card Base 5 1/4″ x 8 1/2″, score at 2 1/8″ and 6 3/8″, 2 1/2″ x 3 3/4″ (4 pieces)
- Pool Party: 2 1/4″ x 3 1/2″
- Whisper White: Inside: 4″ x 5 1/4″, scraps for ice cream and cone
- DSP: 1 7/8″ x 5 1/4″ (2 pieces
To create the locking mechanism, cut four pieces of cardstock all the same size. For this card, the measurements are 2 1/2″ x 3 3/4″. On two of the pieces, fold in half. These pieces are adhered to one of the 2 1/2″ x 3 3/4″ piece with the open ends facing outward and the folds butted up to each other. Add the fourth piece to the top of these folded pieces. The mechanism will then slide over the opening of the card. The slide and lock piece can be whatever measurements depending on the focal image you want to use. You can make them in oval and circle shapes as well.
