So good to get back to my craft room and create using some of my stash that have been sitting on the shelf. Sweet Songbird was one of the first stamp sets that I bought when the Annual Catalogue came out and today I wanted to share the sweet little bird pairing it with the twisted ribbon technique. The Sweet Songbird stamp set comes as a bundle with the Bird Builder punch.
I have been seeing a lot of cards using the Twisted Ribbon technique and wanted to give it a go using the 2022-2024 In Color 6″ x 6″ Glimmer Paper to show the ombre effect from the paper. I chose Sweet Sorbet for the primary color for the card.
Cutting Instructions:
- Sweet Sorbet: Card base – 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, score 4 1/4″, 2 1/4″ x 5 1/4″, scrap for circle die
- Basic White: 4″ x 5 1/4″ (two – one for front panel and one for inside), scraps for focal image
- In Color Glimmer Paper: 8 pieces 3/4″ x 3 1/4″
I first embossed one of the 4″ x 5 1/4″ Basic White card stock with the Quatrefoil Tile embossing folder. On the Basic White scrap, stamp the bird, branch and flowers and die cut with the 2 1/4″ scallop circle from the Layering Circle dies. Stamp the wing for the bird and punch out with the Bird Builder punch. Die cut the scrap Sweet Sorbet with the 2 1/4″ circle from the Layering Circle dies. The sentiment is from the Go to Greetings stamped and punched out with the retired 3/4″ circle punch.
On the 2″ x 5 1/4″ Basic White strip, make pencil marks every 3/4″ on both sides of the panel. I started with the lightest strip of the Glimmer paper and adhered it at the top left corner and angled it to fit between the 2nd and 3rd tick mark on the other side of the panel. Continue on with the remaining 3 strips, ensuring the ombre effect is maintained. Going back to the top, adhere the strip from the top left to the bottom of the first strip and continue on with the remaining three strips. Once all the strips have been adhered to the panel, use scissors to trim off the excess. Adhere to the 2 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ Sweet Sorbet panel.
Assemble the card front with the embossed Basic White embossed mat, adhere the twisted ribbon panel to the left side of the Basic White panel. Attach the focal image with Stampin’ Dimensional and complete the card with the sentiment also popped up with a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional.
Complete the inside of the card with the other Basic White panel and add a strip of the Glimmer Paper.
