When I saw the Hippest Hippos in the SAB catalogue I knew that I had to make a spinner card with it. After many hot days it was uncomfortable to be in my craft room, so it was a welcome relief to be able to get back to crafting as the temperatures fell to a workable level and I finally got the card done.
She does spin and if I could master taking a video and have her somersault her way across the beach at the same time, it would be bliss! But alas, I couldn’t juggle the card in one hand and focus the camera with the other – lol. But believe me, she does somersault her way across the beach quite quickly!
I made it as a slimline card with a Starry Sky card base. On the focal panel, I blended Tahitian Tide and Starry Sky classic inks with the Blending Brushes for the sky and for the beach, I used Crumb Cake and Soft Suede. On the mat panel, I blended Tahitian Tide and Starry Sky so that it would look consistent after cutting out the section with the Word Window Punch (retired).
I stamped the grass from On the Horizon stamp set with Pear Pizzazz and the birds in Memento Black ink. I than added a few of the pebbles from the Pebbles Enamel Shapes.
For a spinner card you use pennies for the spinning mechanism and living in Canada, we have done away with pennies for many years. Each opportunity I get whenever I am visiting in the US, I collect a few just in case to make a spinner card.
